PREPARATION
Exfoliate
This is the most important step before your tan. Exfoliate your skin the night before to remove dead skin cells. Wash Avoid makeup, lotions, oils, deodorants or any products on the skin that could create a barrier. Your skin must be clean and dry for best results. Hair Removal Shave/wax 8 hours before your tan. You can shave gently with your tan. What to Wear During a tan, many clients wear swimsuits, bras, panties or thongs. Wear what you are comfortable in. Clients may go nude to avoid lines. Medications Medicated or prescription lotions may act as barriers. Check with your physician. MAINTENANCEDo not get wet, sweat or shower
Wait 8 hours after your tan to shower, sweat or come into contact with water. Rinse gently with warm water (no soap) for the first shower.Rapid Airbrush Tans: Rinse after 1 hour for alight tan, 2 hours for a medium tan or 3 hours for a dark tan. What to Wear Wear loose clothing and flip flops for the first 8 hours. After your first shower, do not wear clothes that rub. Excess sweating and rubbing (sports bras) may cause your tan to fade unevenly. Moisturizer This is the most important step after your tan. Use a tan extender or moisturizer in the morning and evening after your first shower. Wash Gently Pat your skin dry after showering, do not rub. Avoid Scrubbing or Exfoliating Avoid exfoliating until you are preparing for your next appointment or ready to remove your tan. Avoid Alcohol and AHA Products containing alcohol and AHA cause premature fading. Avoid Chlorine Airbrush Tans fade faster if you are submerged in water for any length of time. Avoid long, hot showers, baths, and excessive exposure to chlorine in pools and hot tubs. |
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWhat Is Airbrush Tanning?
Airbrush tanning is the newest phase in the application of self-tanning products. The bronzers made today are very natural looking and are completely harmless. These solutions include DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which works by reacting with the keratin protein in the top (or dead) layer of your skin. The solution is applied with the use of a low-pressure airbrush gun, by a technician, which allows for more even coverage than hand or spray booth application. The fine mist from the airbrush ensures a perfectly even application to the skins surface and as there is no rubbing or overspray from an automated booth setting, it avoids streaking, orange palms and dirty looking knees and elbows. This is a personal treatment tailored to your individual needs. We can add more solution to areas where the sun would naturally, such as the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, and shoulders. We are trained to contour the body using different colors making it virtually impossible to tell the difference between a natural tan you get from the sun and the stunning, UV free airbrush tan. What is DHA? DHA is a colorless derivative of sugar cane that has been FDA approved for more than 30 years. DHA darkens the skin by interacting with the amino acids in the dead surface cells found in the outer-most layer of the skin causing it to darken naturally. Is Airbrush Tanning safe? Yes! We use only the best, highest quality tools and products found in the industry. All of the ingredients in the solutions have been through extensive testing and are FDA approved. The ingredients in our solutions will give you a tan without the risk of wrinkles, skin damage or skin cancer. What do I wear during my session? You may wear lingerie (bra, underwear, thong, etc), a bathing suit or opt for no tan lines at all; we are professionals. Do not wear silk, satin or nylon as the solution may stain these fabrics. What do I wear after my session? Wear loose fitting dark, cotton clothing as the water soluble instant bronzer may rub off on clothing until your first post-tan shower. DO NOT wear denim of any kind directly following your session! Jeans, tight pants and tight fitting undergarments such as under wire bras or sports bras should not be worn directly after tanning if at all possible. (These garments are made to fit snug, and may leave a ‘tan’ line where there wasn’t one before.) If you are coming to our location and need to wear footwear, non-leather flip flops are best. Tennis shoes are too snug, and will erase your tan before it has a chance to develop. If you are coming to our location in the winter months, loose clog-style shoes are optimal. How long does it take to apply? It takes approximately 15 minutes to get your Airbrush Tan. How long will my Airbrush Tan last? Your Airbrush Tan will last 7 to 10 days depending on how well you take care of your skin and also depending on your skin type and activities. For maximum results, be sure to follow the recommendations for preparing and maintaining your Airbrush Tan for maximum results. Instructions will be given to you at the end of your session to provide you with guidelines on how to maintain your tan as long as possible. Just like a natural suntan, the results are temporary; this outer layer of skin is continuously "sloughing" off. How often can I get an Airbrush Tan? You may get an Airbrush Tan as often as you like. Most people like to get airbrushed once a week and it is completely safe to do so. Can I get an Airbrush Tan even if I can’t get a real tan? Yes! Airbrush Tanning does not need your melanocytes to be in working order. The DHA ingredient saturates the dead skin cells in the outermost layer of skin, turning the protein in the dead cells brown. Is Airbrush Tanning recommended for pregnant women or nursing mothers? Although there is no evidence that any of the ingredients in our tanning solution would cause a problem, please check with your doctor prior to receiving an airbrush tan. Will your solution stain my clothes? Wool and light colored nylon fabrics are definitely candidates for staining. Other light colored fabrics, such as cotton, may initially stain, but the solution should wash out easily. We suggest wearing dark clothing to your tanning session, and remaining in dark clothing until initial reaction time is past and you are able to shower. Leather and suede are natural skins. These can be "tanned", just like you! Extra precaution should be taken when wearing light colored leather or suede clothing, or utilizing leather or suede furniture. Does my Airbrush Tan protect me in the sun? Our sunless tanning solution DOES NOT include any sunscreen or protection from the sun. You must use a topical sunscreen to protect yourself from harmful UV rays. What if I have tan lines? Airbrush tanning is unique in the way it allows manipulation of the amount of solution to specific areas of the body. If a strapless gown is in your near future, we can ‘tan’ the whiter areas, and blend the entire area, so it appears as if it is one smooth, tanned area. Can I work out immediately after my tan? To make your tan last as long as possible, working out immediately after a tanning session is not recommended. After the initial 8 hours following your tan, you may shower, workout, get wet, sweat, whatever you would normally do. How far in advance should I get my Airbrush Tan for my wedding? We recommend a minimum of 24-48 hours prior to any special occasion. This allows time for your initial post-tan shower and any initial rub-off that may occur. |
